When pipe damage is too bad for lining or patching to fix, our engineers get to the root of the problem properly by exposing the broken section, replacing what needs to be replaced, and getting your drainage back to full working order.

Precise Location Mapping: Before any digging starts, we use CCTV camera inspection and sonde tracing to pinpoint exactly where the fault sits, and this means no ground gets opened up more than necessary.

Safe Trench Excavation: Our engineers follow strict health and safety procedures on every single site, and trenches are shored and supported correctly throughout the job to protect both our team and your property from any risks.

Damaged Pipe Removal: Once the trench is open, the failed section of pipework is carefully removed in full, and we check the surrounding pipe runs at both ends to confirm how much damage there really is.

New Pipework Installation: The replacement pipework is fitted to current drainage standards using materials that suit the pipe size, the depth of the trench, and the ground conditions, and all joints are sealed and checked before the trench is closed back up.

Compacted Backfill and Surface Reinstatement: The trench is backfilled in properly compacted layers to stop any future settlement problems, and the surface is reinstated to match the surrounding area, whether that is concrete, tarmac, block paving, or just plain topsoil.

Post-Excavation CCTV Verification: Once the ground is fully reinstated, we carry out a follow-up CCTV inspection to make sure the new pipework is seated correctly and flowing freely with no other faults hiding further along the drain run.

1. My drain keeps blocking in the same spot - does that mean it needs excavating?

Not always, but a recurring blockage in the same place usually means the pipe is broken. A CCTV survey will confirm if the pipe has cracked or collapsed. If it has, then excavation is the best long term fix.

2. How do you know exactly where to dig without tearing up the whole area?

We use CCTV camera inspection and sonde tracing to find the fault before any digging starts. This means we only open up the ground right above the damaged section, so the rest of your property stays untouched.

3. Will my driveway or paving be put back properly after the excavation?

Yes, reinstatement is included in our service. We backfill the trench in compacted layers to stop the ground sinking, and we put the surface back to a good standard. We always leave the area clean and solid.

4. Is drain excavation always necessary, or are there alternatives?

Excavation is only used when the damage is too bad for drain relining or a patch repair. If your drain can be fixed without digging, we will tell you that. We never recommend excavation unless it is the right course of action.

5. How long does a typical drain excavation job take to complete?

Most residential jobs are finished within one working day. This depends on the depth of the pipe and the type of surface being reinstated. Bigger jobs may take a second day, and we will give you a clear timeline before starting.
